I did all of the yoga X today. O. M. G. I'm not very flexible and I'm building my strength up, but man, I think I did maybe 45 percent of the video. (It's over an hour and a half, but still) Some of the poses I just stared at the TV thinking, "You want me to do WHAT?! I don't think I can get my feet by my ears on purpose." But I muscled through and did my best.
I also took Kobe for a walk. It was only a mile - we had an incident and I was so mad I had to get home. We passed another dog. Kobe is usually dog aggressive, but I've been working with him and he's been doing awesome. Anyway, it was in a wide part of the trail, so I stopped off the trail to let them pass. Kobe did awesome until the other dog lunged at him. After that, somehow he managed to rip my headphone wires apart and I spent 5 minutes trying to get him into submission again. I don't blame him - it's partly my fault for not walking him the past couple days. Oh well. No blood was shed so I'm not going to worry about it.
Oh, and my numbers keep dropping. Yay! Hubby says I shouldn't weigh myself every day, but it really helps keep me focused. I get super hungry after the kids go to bed. I used to have a bowl of ice cream every night religiously as soon as the kids were sleeping, so it's hard to break that habit. But now, I know I'm going to weigh myself in the morning so I grab a bottle of water instead.
I promised my cousin I would put some tips in here on little things to start losing weight. I don't know if she'll check this, but here it goes.
Portion control!!!! I started by not going back for seconds and not finishing everything on my plate. If I was starting to get full, I'd stop eating. This was hard - when I was growing up, we had to finish everything on plates regardless. After a while, it got so I know how much to take.
Do exercise whenever you can - I find things to do even though I'm not technically working out. When I brush my teeth, I do leg lifts or squats or lunges. When I'm cooking supper I'll do push ups against the counter or swing kicks over the kids (they love that, I just have to be extra super careful I get the height!). Every minute of every day is an opportunity to exercise - even if it is just contracting your ab muscles while you type on the computer.
A liter by lunch! The more water you drink, the less your body will retain. Try to drink a liter by lunch and whenever you feel hungry, drink a glass of water. The body confuses the thirst and hunger signals - you might be eating when you should be drinking!
If you have a hard time dieting, adopt this approach. Diet 3 days a week, diet moderately 3 other days and, well, don't splurge, but you can eat whatever you want the last day within reason. Make sure these are all mixed up - this way your body won't go into feast or famine mode and keep you from plateauing.
Choose healthier options - instead of a burger and fries, go for grilled chicken and a side salad.
Cut out pop!!!! I did this a while ago - I figured anything that can degrease an engine probably isn't good for me to be consuming.
Invest in P90X. It's insane and while I'm only 3 weeks in, I'm already seeing results. I can do more of the workouts every time and I'm losing inches. Beachbody.com is great for keeping track of weight and inches.
I'll be back on later if I remember more! And dear trainer, you know all your words of wisdom are appreciated!
